DUFTE candles are made purely from rapeseed wax with a wooden wick made from certified softwood. The wick is untreated and provides an enticing, gentle crackling sound.

Essential oils mobilize the self-healing powers and strengthen the immune system. In addition, scents often have something to do with memories/emotions. The nose is the only sensory organ that transmits its impulses directly to the brain without other nerve cells being connected in between. One of the information paths leads from the nose directly to the seat of emotions, the limbic system. This immediately creates a feeling via the incoming scent information. Depending on the smell, it can cause joy, fear, disgust or well-being. None of this can be influenced. Because when we smell the scent, it has already arrived in the brain or the scent has done something. It reminded us of something, joy or fear, of childhood, of a trip to the sea...

DUFTE candles are cast in recycled wine and beer bottles. These are purchased and processed by restaurants. After your candle has burned down, you can use the glass as a drinking glass, for example.

Since it is a recycled beer or wine bottle, each glass is unique. None are the same as the other. Colors and glass thicknesses may also vary slightly.

It is very important that when you light your Dufte candle for the first time, you let it burn at least until the wax has melted up to the edge of the glass and is therefore liquid. This takes about 2-4 hours. This way you prevent your Dufte candle from forming a tunnel and preventing a lot of wax from burning, which would be a shame.

Please shorten the wick BEFORE EVERY time you light it again by removing the burned wood from the wick with the wick scissors or your fingers. This is the only way the wick can attract the wax and the flame has enough power again. Be careful not to contaminate the wax with carbon residue.

Since these are recycled wine or beer bottles, the glasses have a curvature at the bottom. A little more pronounced in the wine bottle. To attach the wick I need a wick holder and of course it has to be in the middle so that the candle can burn evenly. This is exactly on the curvature. For this reason, the wick can only burn down to the wick holder and a wax residue remains around the curvature in the glass. Unfortunately, there is no other way to represent this. This is of course included in the ML quantity so that the burning time is not affected. The wax residue can be easily removed with a hot water bath or in the oven so that the glass can continue to be used. What is also very important with a wooden wick is that the candle should not burn all the way to the end anyway, otherwise the glass will become very damaged heat and the glass can crack.

Since we always try to use existing wood, the type of wood and the color can vary. However, if possible, we always try to make the large Armin in dark wood and the small Armin in light wood.

During my first pregnancy, I started questioning certain products I was using. I was also annoyed by the extreme packaging waste that is generated every day. I wanted to change something to leave my ecological footprint...

And so the DUFTE manufactory was gradually created.
